EXCURSIONS

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for all our guests attending the 21st national scleroderma conference. In addition to the enriching patient led and educational sessions lined up, we are offering a unique chance for you to explore the beauty and culture of St.John's, NL through specially curated excursions. These excursions will take place on Friday August 30th and are being offered at a discounted price for conference attendees.

What to expect

  1. Cultural Immersion: Immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of St.Johns NL. Visit historical landmarks, experience local traditions, and gain a deeper understanding of the region's heritage.

  2. Breathtaking Landscapes: For nature enthusiasts, our scenic excursions will take you to the most picturesque spots in the area. Whether it's a tranquil walk through town or a scenic boat tour, you'll have the opportunity to unwind amidst stunning landscapes.

How to participate 

​Participation in these excursions is optional, and you can buy tickets online. There will be an option to buy tickets during the conference; however, there are limited spots are available. We encourage you to secure your place early to ensure you don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity.

Bird Island Boat Tour (4 hours) 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The day beings with a drive down the Southern Shore to visit the historic Irish outport community of Bay Bulls. Here guests take a ride with O'Brien's Boat Tours out to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve Bird Islands, home to millions of Atlantic Puffins, Murres and Kittiwakes in the spring and summer. Remember to keep an eye for whales that frequent this bay. *Weather dependent*

PRICE PER PERSON: $144.00. Includes transportation to and from Bay Bulls, and public boat tour.

Historic St. John’s and Cape Spear (3 hours) 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Become acquainted with the city of St. John's and its surroundings, including Cape Spear. This is the oldest colonized region in the new world and your local guide will regale you with its steeped history, legends & lore. Enjoy the brilliant views from Cabot Tower and Signal Hill, one of the most recognizable skylines in Canada. Walk through a cliffside World War II gun battery, watch for whales and seabirds and visit the oldest standing lighthouse in North America. Other stops include Quidi Vidi Village, Jelly Bean Row, Government House, the Roman Catholic Basilica and an orientation of the shops and restaurants of the downtown core.

PRICE PER PERSON: $80.50. Includes guide and transportation.
